ADDvanced Solutions Community Network are delighted to share our new offer for Liverpool families whose child or young person has ADHD. We will be working directly with families and delivering additional learning opportunities which complement the rest of our offer in Liverpool focusing on ADHD in greater depth. We work in partnership with Alder Hey neurodevelopmental pathway team to support families at the earliest possible stages through our ND Learning programme and now, following diagnosis, we are able to offer the ADHD Learning Programme as well as the Autism Learning Programme.
For Parents and Carers
Our ADHD learning programme for parents and carers has been developed in partnership with neurodivergent young people and families with lived experience of supporting ADHD. We set out to answer the many questions that parents and carers can have when their child or young person has ADHD. Our learning programme aims to equip parents and carers with a greater understanding of ADHD its challenges and provides them with information and practical strategies that can support difficulties and promote positive outcomes. The programme will cover:
- Recognising the different presentations of ADHD.
- Understanding the impact on everyday life.
- Sharing a diagnosis and communicating with your child or young person about their ADHD.
- Supporting mental health and wellbeing.
- Exploring medication, strategies, interventions and lifestyle choices.
- Managing everyday challenges of ADHD.
- Latest research, legislation and support services
The first of opportunity to attend this programme is either face to face in Liverpool across three Mondays in March or online on Thursday afternoons beginning 26th February. Find out more here.
This learning programme, for Liverpool families, is designed for parents and carers whose child or young person has a diagnosis of ADHD. Subject to availability, places may be available to those whose child is under assessment for ADHD. If you are awaiting a neurodevelopmental assessment or referral or are just exploring the possibility of neurodiversity in your family, please join our Community Network Group or ND Learning Programme where we will support you to find the answers.
For Professionals
We also introduce an offer for professionals, anyone working with children and young people, a funded CPD accredited workshop “Understanding and Supporting ADHD”. Developed from a blend of professional and lived experience and extensive academic research, with information in line with NICE guidelines. We will enable participants to:
- Gain a clear understanding of ADHD
- Identify common challenges for children and young people with ADHD.
- Recognise the challenges that families may experience
- Explore practical ways to support children and young people with ADHD and their families
This learning offer for Liverpool professionals builds on and complements our ND Awareness Raising Training, extending knowledge, understanding and confidence to better support the children and young people with ADHD they work with, and their families. We will be working with a limited number of identified primary schools around the city delivering our ND & Me programme to small groups of year 5 & year 6 pupils who have ADHD to equip them with a better understanding of themselves, explore their needs and their unique strength and challenges, and encourage them to build strategies to support their transition to high school.
